John Mellencamp's Vicious Tour Updated 00:23 PST Fri, Mar 15 2002
The second leg of John Mellencamp's
Cuttin' Heads Tour is ready to hit the sheds again this summer. The tour rolls out July 3 in Pittsburgh and makes 14 stops on the month-long trek. A handful of additional shows are expected to be added
in the near future, one of which is expected to be in New York.
For the first leg of the Cuttin' Heads Tour, Mellencamp took along The Wallflowers as
support. No opening acts have been confirmed for this round.
Along with his nine-piece band, Mellencamp is expected to perform songs from his latest
album, Cuttin' Heads, as well as tunes from his extensive catalogue.
Although no official tour was scheduled for 2000, Mellencamp managed to surprise fans in
several locations by just showing up and putting on a free show. Dubbed the Good Samaritan tour, Mellencamp and two bandmates put on relaxing, family-oriented (Mellencamp's wife and
kids were in tow) shows that managed to attract crowds in excess of 10,000 even though they weren't publicized.
